Pedigree Charollais Sheep
Flock History
We have been breeding Charollais since 1981. Our main breeding focus is to concentrate on the excellent commercial qualities of the Charollais breed - easy lambing, lots of vigour, excellent growth rates, great length, natural carcase and tight skins. We also select for rams with good head cover which means the progeny of our rams have the ability to thrive in cold N.E Scotland conditions.
The strength of genetics in our two Charollais flocks (Logie Durno and Loanhead) has been proven over the last few years with great success in both the show and sale rings. We have had the top price at the breed Premier sale for the past four years and have been breed Champion and Reserve at the Highland show for the last two years. We also starting showing at the Royal Welsh in 2010 and have had great success winning breed Champion 3 out of the 4 years and winning the sheep Champion of Champions in 2012 and 2013. In 2012 we also won the Interbreed pair and group of three.
If you are looking for an easy lambing terminal sire producing vigorous lambs that get up and suck with growth rates that will match any other breed producing easily fleshed lambs that kill out well. Then Charollais may be the ram for you. They are also very active fertile rams with great longevity.
TESTIMONIAL: Roddy Marshall, Aberdeenshire - “The Charollais are easily lambed and get up and suck by themselves which reduces labour costs at lambing time. The lambs also stay cleaner which is very important when selling, OUR BUYERS LOOK OUT FOR THEM.”
